Brewster High Students Make Placemats For Vets

BREWSTER, N.Y.- Art students at Brewster High School donated over 60 handmade placemats for State Senator Greg Ball’s Veterans Thanksgiving Dinner.

The 3rd Annual Veterans Thanksgiving Dinner is a free event at Putnam National Golf Club on Saturday November 23rd.  The event uses donations from the public and volunteers to provide a free dinner for veterans. There are seatings at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The placemats were designed by students in grades 9-11 in Mrs. Sarah Barnes’ art class. They also created a series of thank you cards that will be presented to veterans at the dinner.

“Brewster Central School District is very proud to be a part of the Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner. I would like to commend Senator Greg Ball for hosting this annual dinner to show thanks to our local veterans for their service,” said Joseph Castagnola, Principal of Brewster High School. “On November 14th, at 7:00 p.m., in our Performing Arts Center, our High School will also honor our local veterans as we perform our annual Salute to Veterans Choral Concert.”

In addition to volunteers, Ball is also seeking donations for the Thanksgiving Dinner, anyone interested in volunteering or donating goods is asked to contact Senator Greg Ball’s office at (845) 279-3773 or kgobins@nysenate.gov. Veterans that would like to attend should contact Senator Greg Ball’s office at (845) 279-3773.
