Candidates For Dutchess County Legislature File Their Petitions

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Based on petitions filed at the Dutchess County Board of Elections, there appears to be 18 head-to-head races for seats on the Dutchess County Legislature and seven unopposed elections.

The following is a list of who has filed petitions for candidancy and what party lines on which they hope to run.

District 1

Incumbent James Doxsey is running for reelection in District 1, which covers the Town of Poughkeepsie. Doxsey is seeking the Democratic, Conservative, Working Families and Independence lines. Challenger Ellen Nesbitt is seeking the Republican and Conservative nod.

District 2

In District 2, Donald Sagliano appears to be running unopposed as he seeks the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. The seat, which covers Pleasant Valley and Poughkeepsie is currently held by Peter Wilkinson who did not file a petition for any lines.

District 3

Incumbent Dale Borchert is seeking reelection in District 3, which represents LaGrange. The Republican majority leader is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

District 4

Sue Serino appears to be running unopposed in District 4, which covers Hyde Park. The incumbent is seeking the Republican and Conservative nominations.

District 5

Also appearing to be running unopposed is incumbent Ken Roman in District 5, which represents the Town of Poughkeepsie. Roman petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence nominations.

District 6

Incumbent Angela Flesland is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence nomination for District 6, which covers the Town of Poughkeepsie. She is being challenged by Seth Warner, who petitioned for the Democratic and Working Families lines.

District 7

Richard Perkins, the incumbent petitioned for the Democratic, Working Families and Independence lines in District 7, which represents Hyde Park. Perkins appears to be challenged by Justin Varuzzo who seeks the nod from the Republicans and the Conservatives.

District 8

District 8, which covers parts of the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, sees the chair of the Legislature, Rob Rolison, looking to get the nomination from the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties. Challenger Emily Egan petitioned for the Democratic line.

District 9

Incumbent Steven White of District 9, which cover the City of Poughkeepsie, is being challenged by Gwen Johnson for the Democratic line. White is also seeking the Independence Party nomination, while Johnson is looking for the nomination from the Working Families party.

District 10

In District 10, which covers the City of Poughkeepsie, incumbent Barbara Jeter-Jackson appears to be running unopposed. Jeter-Jackson, the minority leader for the Dutchess County Legislature, petitioned for the Democratic and Independence lines.

District 11

Incumbent Joel Tyner is seeking reelection in District 1,  which represents Rhinebeck and Clinton, petitioned for the Democratic and Working Families lines. Challenger Deborah Mimoso is looking for the Republican and Conservative lines.

District 12

Incumbent Robert Weiss is looking for the Republican, Conservative and Independence party nominations for District 12, which represents East Fishkill. Challenger Beth Kangarlu petitioned for the Democratic and Working Families party nominations.

District 13

District 13, which covers LaGrange, Unionvale and Wappinger, has incumbent Donna Bolner seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. Challenger Cathy Pritchard seeks the nod from the Democrats and the Conservatives.

District 14

Incumbent Francena Amparo seeks the Democratic, Working Families and Independence party nomination in District 14, which covers Wappinger. Challenger Alex Czarniecki petitioned for the Republican and Conservative nominations.

District 15

Incumbent Joseph Incoronato of District 15, which represents the Towns of Poughkeepsie and Wappinger, petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines. Challenger Charles Davenport is looking to gain the support of the Democrats and Working Families.

District 16

In District 16, which covers Fishkill, East Fishkill and Beacon, Alison MacAvery seeks reelection on the Democratic, Conservative and Independence lines. Challenger Robert Principe is looking to gain the nominations of the Republican and Conservative parties.

District 17

District 17, which covers the Town/Village of Fishkill, has James Miccio running for reelection having petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. Challenger Alicia Alfred is hoping the Democrats give her the nod.

District 18

Incumbent John Forman is running for reelection to continue representing Beacon in District 18. Forman petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines while April Farley is looking for the nod from the Democratic party and Working Families.

District 19

The Towns of North East, Stanford, Pine Plains and Milan, which encompass District 19, have incumbent Deborah Blalock seeking the Democratic, Working Families and Independence lines. Hopeful challenger Anthony Pulver is seeking the Republican and Conservative lines.

District 20

Incumbent Benjamin Traudt of District 20, which represents Red Hook, petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence line. Michaela Stawinski ihopes to challenge Traudt on the Democratic and Working Families lines.

District 21

Margaret Horton, the incumbent from District 21, which covers East Fishkill, is running unopposed having petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

District 22

In District 22, which covers Beekman, Gerald Hutchings seeks reelection on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. Challenger Ronald Mangeri petitioned the Democrats and Working Families for their nominations.

District 23

Incumbent John Thomes is running unopposed for District 23, which covers Pawling, Beekman and parts of East Fishkill. Thomes is looking to secure the Republican, Conservative and Independence party nods.

District 24

District 24, which covers Dover and Unionvale, sees Alan Surman running for reelection on the Republican Conservative and Independence lines. Surman is challenged by Francis Gottron who is looking to get the nomination from the Democratic and Independence parties.

District 25

District 25, which covers Amenia, Stanford, Washington and Pleasant Valley, has incumbent Michael Kelsey seeking the nomination of the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

Candidates File Petitions to Run for Town Offices Throughout Dutchess County

The following people have filed petitions to seek the nominations of various party lines in the upcoming election for Dutchess County public offices:

Beacon

Margaret Ross is seeking the Democratic and Working Families lines for Ward 1 on the Beacon City Council, while Diane Spiak-Pisanelli is looking to gain the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Omar Harper is looking to gain the Democratic, Republican, Conservative and Independence nominations in Ward 2 while Charles Kelly is seeking the Democratic and Working Families nod.

In Ward 3, Pamela Wetherbee is seeking the Democratic line while Samuel Way petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Ward 4 has Ali Muhammad looking to gain the Democratic and Working Families nominations, while Lou Amoroso is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

For the at-large council seat, Lee Kyriacou has filed for the Democratic line, Jerry Landisi has filed for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines, George Mansfield for the Working Families lines and Justin Riccobono for the Independence line.

Beekman

Michael Delvecchio and Ezio Battaglini are bidding for the Republican and Independence lines for Town Council. Richard Colesanti and Alicia Turenchalk have filed for the Conservative line.

Barbara Zulauf is seeking the Republican and Independence lines for Town Supervisor while Paul Curran has filed for the Conservative line.

Dover

Linda French and Paul Palmer are seeking the Democratic and Independence lines for Town Council while Matthew Davis and Kathleen Surman are seeking the Conservative line. Surman is also seeking the Independence line. For Town Supervisor, incumbent Ryan Courtien has filed for the Democratic and Conservative lines while Theodore Jensen is seeking the Conservative line.

East Fishkill

William Dahncke and Thomas Franco have petitioned for the Republican and Independence lines for Town Council while Emanuele Marinaro is seeking the Conservative line. Franco has also petitioned for the Conservative line.

John Hickman has petitioned for Town Supervisor on the Republican and Independence lines for Town Supervisor while Carol Hurray is seeking the Republican and Independence nominations for Town Clerk.

Fishkill

Thomas Knips and Timothy Tuttle are seeking the Democratic and Independence lines for Town Council while Felix Lopez and Doughlas McHoul have petitioned for the Republican line. All four candidates have petitioned for the Conservative line.

Darlene Bellis has filed for Town Clerk on the Republican and Conservative lines while while David Hill is seeking the Democratic and Independence lines.

LaGrange

Kevin Donohue, Edward Jessup and Joseph Luna filed for the Republican and Conservative lines for Town Council. Jessup and Luna are also seeking the Independence lines.

For Town Supervisor, both Alan Bell and Sean Donohue are seeking the Republican and Conservative lines while Bell is also looking to run on the Independence line.

Village of Pawling

Brian Griffin, Stan Mersand and Wayne Osborne have filed for the Republican line for Trustee. Mersand is also seeking the Conservative line.

Robert Liffland has filed for the Republican and Conservative lines for Mayor.

Taren Cummings has filed for the Republican and Conservative lines for Justice.

Town of Pawling

William Johnson and Paul Upham are seeking the Conservative line for Town Council.

David Kelly has petitioned for the Republican and Conservative lines for Town Supervisor

David Daniels is seeking the Republican line for Town Justice.

City of Poughkeepsie

For City Council, Christopher Petsas is seeking the Democratic nod in Ward 1 while Dominick Aqufredda petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Joseph Rich is seeking the Democratic and Working Families lines in Ward 2, while Vincent Brugger petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

In Ward 3, Robert Mallory is seeking the Democratic and Working Families lines, Kenneth Stickle petitioned for the Democratic line and Rose Ferrucci petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Nina Boyd petitioned for the Democratic line for Ward 4 while Lee Klein is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

In Ward 5, Ann Perry is seeking the Democratic and Conservative lines while Kathleen Wood petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Fred Knapp and Sharon McClinton petitioned for the Democratic line in Ward 6. McClinton is also seeking the Working Families line. Herbert Bullock petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

In Ward 7, Randall Johnson and Zachary Martin petitioned for the Democratic lines. Johnson also petitioned for the Working Families lines. Giovanna Stumbo is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Tracy Hermann is seeking the Democratic and Working Families lines in Ward 8 while Anthony LaRocca petitioned for the Republican, Independence and Conservative lines.

Town of Poughkeepsie

John Baisley is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines for Town Council in Ward 1.

William Carlos is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines in Ward 2.

Laura Crisafulli has petitioned for the Democratic lines in Ward 3 while Joseph Conte petitioned for the Republican and Conservative lines. Both candidates are seeking the Independence lines.

Michael Cifone petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines in Ward 4.

Steve Krakower is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines in Ward 5.

Ann Shershin petitioned for the Democratic, Independence and Working Families lines in Ward 6 while Paul Porco has petitioned for the Republican and Conservative lines.

For Town Supervisor, Todd Tancredi has filed for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Unionvale

Steven Frazier and John Welsh have filed for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines for Town Council while David McMorris has petitioned for the Working Families line.

Lisette Hitsman has petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines for Town Supervisor.

Raymond Jurina is seeking the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines for Town Justice.

Wappingers

William Beale has petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines for Ward 1 of the Town Council.

Eugene Vargas has petitioned for the Democratic line for Ward 2 while Vincent Bettina has filed for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

In Ward 3, Robert Cofer has petitioned for the Democratic line while Ismay Czarnieki and John Fenton have petitioned for the Republican line. Czarnieki is also seeking the Conservative line.

For Ward 4, Gregory Quinn is seeking the Democratic and Working Families lines while Michael Kunicz has petitioned for the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

Barbra Gutzler is seeking the Republican and Independence nominations for Town Supervisor while Joseph Torres petitioned for the Democratic and Working Families lines. Both candidates filed for the Conservative line.
